Welcome to Peter Taylor’s Calligraphics
established in Brisbane, Australia in 1987 and
catering for the calligraphy needs of clients worldwide.
Peter is one of Australia's most respected calligraphers. He originally studied
his
craft in England
under many of the world's leading scribes before settling in Brisbane. In 1979, he taught the state of Queensland's first ever calligraphy classes.
Peter is
known
for
his
expertise in
both
writing and teaching,
and was
approached
by Allen & Unwin to write
The Australian Manual of Calligraphy in 1987which was also published by
Unwin Hyman / Harper Collins in the UK and New Zealand as A Manual of Calligraphy.
His new book, Practical Calligraphy, published by Hinkler Books in 2010 is now available in Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, South East Asia, New Zealand, South Africa and online retailers.
For over 20 years, he has worked for private, corporate and
government clients, calligraphing innumerable certificates, invitations,
place cards, monograms and
poems,
as well as
formal documents
and presentations.
Peter's artworks have been exhibited in the Queensland Museum and the Queensland State Library, Queensland House in London and other galleries in England. His most prestigious commissions include the 'Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Recognition Statement' for the government, and a hand-written and illuminated book for World Expo 88 as part of their gift to Her Majesty the Queen at its opening.

Peter is a Registered Queensland Teacher and Blue Card holder, providing
tuition to adults and children individually or in groups;
school visits or residencies
and to teachers for in-service training.
